Cav 96 Compressor running all the time

Hi all, I have a Cav 96 that has been running great for about 7 years but recently I noticed the compressor runs continuously. How would I check the t-stat on it? What are some other things I should check.

     Step # 1----- Turn the dial to the "off" position to see if the contacts are still working.

Hey Moondog, Yes when I turn it to the off position the compressor turns off. At 1 on the dial its 32 deg in the box.

      #2-------------put the end of the capillary tube in a cup of ice.

So I pulled the Capillary probe out and put in a cup of ice water. The box temp dropped to 29 and the ice water froze up but the compressor never shut off.

        #3-----------The old hammer trick! LOL.    Hook it back up and tap on the body of the T/S with the handle of a screwdriver, sometimes works for me.
   
         In the meantime, call one of our suppliers and get a replacement thermostat ordered, you need one.

Edit: New t-stat installed and she is working perfectly.
