Dave,
I do most of the work myself and then generally have the paint done. On a machine this bad I will first take everything apart. Nothing is left on the machine at all. Then I strip the paint off of the machine using aircraft striper. Then this machine will need some new metal added to it since it has a few holes, but that is where my brother-in-law comes in since I don't weld. ( he is really good). Then do the body work usind body filler, and then prime and paint. Also the inside Will be painted or powdercoated. All of the chrome will be send out to be redone. I really like the looks of this machine, and even though it is not origional it is going to be blue with a white top and red letters.

Mark, If you were to see this machine close up you wouldn't mind putting anything on it. The light blue looks like it was put on with a brush and it is falling off in chunks. I doubt anything will hurt the paint.

Dave first off I forgot to say that after everything is done I would say that the restoration will cost about $1,000. Also have you ever priced shipping a machine from the US over to you? If so do you remember what it cost? I know it will be more but my father is thinking about having me send a machine or two to him in Singapore. I think he is going to flip when he finds out what it will cost. He knows he wants and 81D but he is thinking about what else.

Hi

I have never priced the shipping of a Soda Machine but I did once import a Seeburg JL. That cost about $600.00 to ship by air from Nashville. I don't know the difference in weight between a Seeburg and a soda machine but I know, from personal experience that I would rather haul my Vendo 39 up three flights of stairs than any of my jukes.

The $1000 cost to restore would that be with people doing you favors, like your in-laws or would that be a rough estimate for "joe public".

I have almost convinced my wife that we need to re-mortage so as to raise sme money to convert a part of our garage into a small study/gamesroom for me. In return she'll get a nice garden for her and the "dustbin lids." So, if I did manage to push her over the top I was thinking that I could add on just a bit more and get that Pepsi Machine I have always dreamed of.

My machine of preference would be a small chest type one (Junior/slider) which I think, are not as popular as the others. Its just whether it would be worthwhile shipping it across the world.

I don't think we had the same sort of vending machines as yourselves back in the 50's so whatever, it would have had to have come from the US in the first place.

Another thing, I read all this posts (and it has become very addictive and taken me away from Ebay for a while) and I think , Cor, I could do that. MAYBE NOT...

How much were you quoted for the Far East?? Was it by boat or Plane.

I did get a quote from a company to ship one of those repro WH Juniors for $180.00. Don't know how they managed to do that so low???

Dave, that junior is a nice unit,and is much lighter than a real one.
My question : will our machines plug in and work on your electrical system?

The answer is ..no, not without at stepdown. We run 240 and you run 110. Not a problem for soda machines all you do is add the transformer but for jukes its more of an issue because of the cycle speed. 50 instead or 60 or vice versa can't remember. That means modifications and gear changes etc.

Have you seen te Junior. At 599 plus 180 for shipping and anything customs want its still a cheap alternative. But, its not the real McCoy.

I have champagne tastes with soda pop money.

The $1,000 is with me doing everything including painting the machine in my brothers garage. So that would be what it would cost me, and does not include any cost of my time. We havent gotten a quote yet for the far east. I think he is going to work on that this week.

Well I got the machine out of the truck and the rust is pretty bad. I do have a replacement piece to weld into the bottom from a doner cabnet, and my brother-in-law said that the door will be nothing to fix. The whole left floor where the front leg is gone, but this is the only part of the machine that has rust.
