      Just my opinion
Since it's not embossed, it's not really a 7up machine so you would not want to redo it as 7up.
Nor would you want to redo it in Coke because nothing you do to it from now on, other than a good cleaning would increase the value.
It's a great piece of history, I say keep it just the way it came in.

I remember that Jared. I recall that his was a VMC 149. Not much difference and the same outside dimensions.

the bottles came with it. I removed them from the front columns but you can see them in the far right column. The stack is jammed in the back so I have to slide it out to get them all.

How to you tell the difference just at a glance?  Without a the vending carousel they look the the same??

I believe that he said it was a 149.
Also, I have seen them with that raised "plug" above the crank. Sometimes the slot is there, but not raised, with a flat filler piece installed.

thought I might chime in and share.....

I actually purchased this embossed VMC 149 from Brian (Seven181) in hopes of one day returning it to its original glory. I realize that there this is not a huge 139/149 market but when I heard that an embossed 7up version existed I had to see it for myself and eventually buy it. The machine is in storage now but here are some pics of what it looks like. I also attached a pic from colamachines.com showing one restored.

A special shout out to Leonard (ltransam) for helping me land this thing.....and lifting it......
