Yes they are a bit deeper.... but I'm hoping that I can put them back to back and have the coin door sit in front of the wheel wells closer to the cab if not.
88's are 18" deep, the coin door is 3" and the handle another 2".... so that bring it to 23" x 2 which would be 2" shy of 4' so I think I'm ok.
worse case scenario is I have to stand one up and against the cab and have the other lying flat with the gate open.

I've transported an 88 upright, because I had to. I just made sure it was strapped well and kept it below 60 mph on the corners. ( 90 kmh for the Canadians in this discussion). Either way, you should be fine! B.

Looks like Christmas has come early Ed.
Weather looks good for traveling. No snow or ice in the near future.
Safe travels.

I have a Ram 1500 short box.
the length of the bed with tailgate closed is 65" width between wheel wells is 50"
The beds are only about 20" with a tonneau cover.. so might have to leave it open.
I have had 2 81's on their sides in there no problem..

I can fit two 110's (back to back on their sides) in the back of my Tahoe and still close the cargo doors. It is 4' x 6' also. You should be fine with 88's.

Or take an electric drill with you and remove the coin doors and associated parts?

Taking the coin door off is an idea! But if 2 110's fit side to side,..... I think the 88's should do fine (I'll be checking the dimensions when I get home) I thought I was going to leave today to pick them up... but the seller had a change of plans and will not be around to have me pick it up.... so it's been re sched. till after X mas..... Oh well, instead of an early gift for me, it's a late one lol Thanks again all for the info on the bed size etc! Ed
