From the factory, they were exclusive to Coke.

But the idea is cool. Wouldn't hack a 44 to make a fantasy machine though.

People hack 81's all the time - what so special about the 44 Jim? I'd hack any (common) machine (44, 81, 110) that my (substitute) embossing fit nicely in.

Then again, I don't restore a lot of machines. I was simply speaking from the heart....would not feel bad about it!

There's one for sale right now on Ebay for an exorbitant amount for a fantasy machine.  Seller at least admits the embossing was welded in.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pepsi-Machine-Vendo-44-Restored-/161355859753?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25918f0729

Cool looking machine, but it is a lot of money.

I like original machines but if I were to get one made, and I had a personal favorite soda, I would have one made from a donor machine.  I have no problems with that.  Just keep in mind that the value you pay may not be the value you receive later.  Then again, you may get more.  I think I'll have someone cut up my Coke Vmc 72 and make it a Pepsi Vmc 72.  I'll have to work on making the shell larger too so I could fit Mexican Pepsi's in there.  biggrin

This is a Pepsi 44 machine that only vends Cokes. I don't believe even the smallest Pepsi bottle would fit.
So if we have a fantasy machine for display only, no need for that beautiful compressor or hard to find bottle stack.
Might as well just use a shell, leave the door shut and admire it!  glare

A fantasy machine should never be called rare.

It is a cool looking machine though!

Where do you think the embossed letters came from?

if I had to guess I would say the embossing came from a cooler. I think a slider would be to big. The 44 is a very narrow machine.
