HI,

I am trying to restore an Ideal 55 Slider.  The coil has come completely loose from the metal cooling tank.  I have cleaned the tank and the tubing but I am having a difficult time trying to solder the copper tubing back to the tank.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Wayne

I use foil tape. Home depot or Lowes carries a 3" roll rated for cold weather. Put a layer on the tub where the coil will come in contact with it,then set the coil and use a few strips to hold the coil in place and then completely tape it in. I use a Bondo spreader to press the tape in place and smooth it out for better adhesion.

Thanks for the reply.  I will check the tape.  Sounds a whole lot easier than soldering.    By the way, I couldn't think of the word I wanted to use nut you go tit.  Tub not tank.

The tape will hold pretty well then?
