Well figured it out...thanks Jim for your patience....the biggest mistake I was making was the type of ac powered device I was using to test the socket with after wiring.
I had my heat gun out when I was heat shrinking the wires. Not thinking about the change I had used that to test the socket since the top half of the machine was blanket wrapped waiting for a lock.
Also the male socket from the back is a poor design and I had to use a belt sander to grind down so the socket would fit. A great site for vintage looking assessories is
