Ever since I moved to NC I have noticed that they call vending machines "soda boxes" or "coke boxes", new or old seems to be the same.

Something unique to the area or are these called different things...pop boxes in the midwest?

Bought a sign from a guy once.   He asked me if I would also be interested in an old Coke box.    I was thinking picnic cooler.

Followed him into the back yard to a Vendo 81B.  happydrinkers

Here in Detroit, if you go get a Pop, you got yourself a cold soda, but if you get Popped you make the 11:00 news.   (and you end up in a box)  oops

Rolf!

We have always said Pop. After I went to school in Memphis I picked up the habit of saying soda. I still get odd looks once in a while when I offer someone a soda.

Moondawg,

Love the link.  I was raised in Chicago and went to school in Ohio.  Both areas there was one name and it was POP.  Moved to North Carolina and they have no idea what I am talking about. They call it by the name of the drink...Coke, Pepsi, 7UP....etc.
