Walked into the garage and smelled something burning, ideal 55 is running, I could smell it coming from the compressor and it's really hot, items are still inside cold, and the copper cool lines are no longer frozen, but watery ( insulated tube)

any advice please?

I'd agree, a bad condenser fan or a really dust-plugged coil.

The fan was not working, I turned it off and have kept it off.  Bad fan?

It's probably just the fan motor, or damaged wiring, most of the sliders I've worked on have all had some degree of dry-rotted wiring, I'd order a replacement harness along with getting a new condenser fan motor, both are fairly easy to replace on an Ideal.

Check out our local suppliers on the banner ads at the bottom (and top) of the home page, that's why they are there. ...might be one close to you, & they all ship regardless.   cheers  drinking
