I just find this a bit funny, and don't mean to sound offensive, but ...

Guys your eating popcorn.. who cares how healthy it is?  really?

It's Popcorn... and unless your eating this as your main staple of daily sustenance,, does the health quality of the oil used really matter?

I guess use what you think tastes good and live a little...

I also use the snappy popcorn coconut oil.. good taste and smell.. But the best part is it has a high smoke rate and is clean to use..  Anything helping my machine stay clean is a plus in my book  biggrin

Coconut oil is the traditional oil for popcorn.  Some movie theaters still use it, but others have switched to vegetable oil (including soybean oil) for popcorn.  In my opinion, coconut oil has the best taste.  As PopcornShop stated it also keeps your kettle clean, as long as the temperature of your kettle is set correctly.  Don't use the Virgin coconut oil.  It has a lower smoke and flashpoint than the coconut oil used for popcorn.  If you want something a little different, go with a white popcorn.  If you want something like the movie theaters, the best that I have found is Pop Secret's Jumbo Popping Corn.  It will give you the fluffiest popcorn.
