I bought a electronic ballast from one of the websites suppliers and was trying to hook it up to the light on my Vendo 81B. Is there a particular way to hook this up for this machine or do i follow the wiring diagram that is on the ballast? I can wire a house but i can't wire a friggin ballast light combo!   |

I have tried this wiring configuration with a new ballast and bulb. The thing i don't understand is that the blue and red wire only read 60v to ground on each screw terminal. Shouldn't this be 120V?

You're forgetting about the voltage drop across the lamps filaments...(60volts x 2 filaments= 120volts)  |

Something else I wondering about, did you reuse the original Push-to-start switch? ( 4-wires 2-black & 2-blue or red)
if the lamp ends glow, but they don't "light" the lamp ( strike an arc), then the ballast isn't wired correctly or it's the wrong ballast for your lamp, if you have voltage everywhere (to ground) & still "no-workie", then you have an open circuit somewhere.

Yes i did use the 4 wire push button but i used the on/off leads not the momentary leads. you would think that would work if you are breaking the hot wire with a switch?

I know it sounds dumb, and forgive me if you already know this, but when you push the 4 wire on/off button, and you hold it for a few seconds when you push it in before releasing your hand ? It takes a second or too to light up.

Yes I did use the 4 wire switch but i used the latching leads not the momentary leads. I am breaking the hot wire with the switch which should work but I'm missing something else cause it don't work. |

I think what is being said is you can't just push the button you need to push it in and hold it while it charges and then release it .

The ballast is hooked up to a on off switch not a momentary switch.
