Ok guys needs some help from some of you smooth talkers... Running an ad and have a guy that has 2 Vendo spin tops (V-23). Now I know they're no Vendo 81s but they're nice. He goes “What they worth”... (I hate that line!) I said what will it take for me to come get them and take them off your hands?.... Well........I don't know... I told him I'd be up his way in a few weeks to take a look. I have a few auctions coming up and don't want to spend a bunch on these in case the auctions go well. Plus this shows him I'm not that impressed with what he has. I want to be fair.. Never burn a bridge!!!! But what do you guys think?..... How would you guys play this out?.......
Thanks Eric

Well I don't mean to sound rude but if he doesn't know what they are worth that is his problem. Before answering the ad he should have done his homework. I am not saying to rip the guy off but there is nothing wrong with getting a good deal. Are you buying them to resell or to keep. If you are going to resell them you can't buy them for what they are worth or else you cant make any $$.

Depends on the model of 23.. If one is the deluxe I'd like to keep it but resell the other. We'll see... Just hate to make an offer over the phone and hate to drive out there without something to say... Anymore.. anyone with a machine thinks they have a gold mine.

You are right it is a gamble. I have had people call me and say they have a machine that they think is from the 40's or early 50's and only want $250 for it and they are only an hour and a half away so you speed over to see that it is a mid 70's Cavalier 64. You never know. But the other 50% of the time pays off for the bad trips. Like I just bought a Cavalier C-55 for $375. I am going nuts right now. I have wanted a 55 for a long time.

What model is that? Is it a square top? The squares are becoming very popular. A couple years ago you couldn't give them away.... But now.... I use to know where a Coke Square top sat. They answered one of my ads said it said Drink Coca-Cola well “Drink” I thought was only on the round tops well it turned out to be a square top with a fountain on the side. I'm going to go back and see what they want a little taller than a 56 but what I remember was nice.

The cavalier 55 is about the same size as a Vendo 44. They are really neat machines. they are the most valuable square top out there. They were also cavaliers first square top. Production started in 1959. This is the machine

Eric , I did a deal last summer that was good (I think at least) I bought two machines for $100 even. A Cavalier 64 and a selectivend. there was no key's for the locks and they were not getting cold so I offer the guy $100 each and he came back with $100 for both but I had to load them myself he was running late to pick up his daughter. Thefollowing saturday I sold the Cavailer for $250 and all I did was one new lock and powerwashed it. Not a bad deal.

Nice set of machines... The Coke one looks like the one I past on but am going to look back into that. I was lucky enough to come across a few great round tops in the early 90s before they went through the roof. And now with this ad I'm running just want to make some good decisions and know what to say to seal the deal! Stuff is still out there..........

Hello
What does your newspaper add say? What is the wording? I am getting to run an add here in Charleston.
