Need help with a lame problem.

Hi folks:

Let's see if I can explain this without sounding like a knucklehead '>  .

Machine is a Cavalier CS-55E (two selection).

I unlocked and opened the coin door, then opened the large cooler door.  Because I have a machine next to the 55, I didn't want the coin door swinging and hitting the adjacent machine while I was loading the 55 - so I closed and locked the coin door while the large door was open.

Now the coin door will not unlock and open, so I can't get at the latch to close the big door.

I take a few minutes every time I'm in the basement and work it but it's not going to happen.  As I work the coin door lock I see the main door latch wiggling around, so things are tangled up in there.

Before I drill the lock out (I'm not sure that will even solve this), can anyone offer any advice?

Get the drill out & be done with it! The only other option would be to bend the coin door. Bad option.

Bob,
 Drill the lock. Use a large screwdriver and turn the assembly til it opens. You can replace the lock with a new one for around $10 or so. Easy operation.

I'm just double checking that have you attempted to push/pull/lift up/push down on the latch hook while unlocking the coin door...? I'm very surprised the locking handle fell into a position to lock the coin door locking bar from moving... And as you stated, if this is the case, drilling the lock may not allow you to unlock the coin door...
Let us know what happens...

Jim, I moved that latch every which way while turning the key.  I just don't understand what's going on in there.

My CS-90 has a similar door layout and I cannot figure out how things got tangled up    .

I've never drilled a lock out.  Is it as simple as starting with a small bit right in the center of the keyhole?
