Looking forward to the pics.
Please don't sand or repaint anything. Original machines are the cream of the crop.
Anything molested in any way is is worth 1/2 value and can be rendered worthless in some cases.

Nice set of vendors. Not the most desirable but with a little bit of work I 'm sure that they will look
"top notch".

Smith

The First ONE is a Canteen !! With The Original Base (It Took me 4years And The Help From Tom AKA- Collector ) To find the Base . My Father Worked For the Canteen Company Here In Cincinnati For almost 30 Years . He was Present at the Scrap yard when A lot of the Machine were Destroyed By Company Policy So that Others would not use them .I Know Creighton has the other Canteen Model & Seven181 Has Both Models

The Second Machine Is a Rowe I believe .You Mainly see them with out the base for some reason .

The Third Machine Is a Cigarette Machine I'm not Sure Who made this Model Maybe General

Thanks SlapShot  For Posting the Pictures .

You did very well to get all three for that price. The Canteen is a very nice machine. I also like the other two. The cig is an electro something, I think. Anyway, nice haul!

I think the cig machine is an Eastern Electric machine. I had one a few years back.

Dave, thanks for the information, you are correct. Cantten machine, not sure if this is oringal paint color. It looks like it, has marks on it, but doesn't show any other color. Like to paint it, after reading the post,s what do you guys think. From what I am hearing it is not a high end machine, so painting it might not be bad. Thanks Mike

Mike,
Great score. It's your Canteen so do what you want.
Give it a good cleaning, polish the shinny bits.
Then stand back and ask yourself if you need to spend the time and money to change a 50 year plus survivor.

If you must have a different color please put the Canteen up for sale before painting it. With stand you may very well get enough to buy a nice Stoner.
Those can be painted all day long.

The reason any Canteen sighting gets multiple replies is as Leonard stated Canteens were company owned/serviced and destroyed when pulled from service.
Very low survival rate. Stoners are all over the place.

Per the cig machine. Seeing a trend to where those are being used to vend art. Used to be off to the scrap yard. You did well keep us posted with pictures.
Thanks,
Creighton

Cig machine is an Eastern Electric.  I believe that was one of the earliest electric cig machines.  Think it dates to the mid 50s.

Nice haul.

Creighton, thanks for all the information, plus everyone else. Great site. Having a buddy looking at this morning, now I think it has been painted. The word canteen you cannot see, unless you open the door. Believe me I hope it is original, I am not very fast doing a project. Thanks again Mike

That's what I'm trying to figure out .if smith can see it on the inside . So it's either covered by a Marquee Plate .Or filled in with Bondo

I starting looking at it real close. Any tell me the if original one, came with a piece of metal above mirror
that was pop rivet in? Seven pop rivets. The letters feel kinda smooth across the top. I will take pictures Monday . Letters on back side of door look like they are part of the door. Mike

I believe the sign is covering the embossing . If you can see it on the inside you should be able to feel it as it will be recessed  on h outside IF ? You remove the sign and its flat it may ? Bondo in ?

That's why I want to view a pic

On the machine that I got the base off of for Leonard - the embossing was bashed in and bondo'd over so even if I took it down to bare metal the embossing was ruined.

Pop rivets are never a good thing to encounter on late 40's early 50's items.  1965 is the start of pop rivets Best I know.
Hope someone just slapped a new sign over the Canteen sign.
If it has been bashed and bondo filled won't be the first and sadly not the last that meet that fate.
That was the deal with Canteen. No re-use.
Looking forward to the pics when you get a chance.!!
Thanks,
Creighton

If they were bashed in you have to see it on the back panel I would think, letters look perfect. Should I remove the piece of metal?

No Expert Here . But When I Got Mine The Upper Was Originally Hammer Gold In Color. I did not find any other Color during Tear down So That What I repainted it in .So I would Say Silver Was Most Likely the Color UNLESS you find a different one while tearing it down

It is always fun to take back the beauty of a machine after it has been trashed for some reason.Even when you can save a little of the original paint on the inside it makes a better piece.

Well, I strip the machine down. Brown first color, white second coat, down to third coat a maroon
color. There is 2 inch plug on top of the machine dead center. Inside there is 2 inch hole in another piece of metal down below it. Was there a option with these, something mounted on top? Thanks Mike
