I don't think you ate going to make a huge amount of money on this. If you are buying to flip I'd look elsewhere.

This would be for my "collection". When I buy for my collection I try to figure out that if I ever need to sell it, I at least break even. So if its $40 non working and I pay him $75 after he fixes it, wanted to see if its worth at least $75 working.

I'd go no more than $75. The ""good side: appears to have faded and deep scratches. you may or may not change your mind after you see it lit.

I live a few miles from howdueyoudue and the market around here is crazy. I almost feel like there are two collector worlds out there, the New York City area and the rest of the country. I hope this doesn't sound cocky but I have found in general that soda machines and gas pumps (this is obviously more in reference to oldgas) that the collectors on these forums yawn at are fairly rare to come across around here and when they do come up are very expensive. I feel this sign for example is a bargain at $75 around here.
Just my two cents, i hope I dont offend anyone.

You want to try collecting the other side of the Atlantic. When I do find something (I rely completely on eBay) the postage charges often kill the deal. Can only keep plodding on. Bargains do sometimes pop up.

Well, I offered them $40 without rewiring it and got the old "we have more into it than that". I then countered with what would you take for it if you dont rewire and received no response. Feels like its going to be a $75 either way situation. Mind as well let them run the risk of breaking it then.

I collect a lot of soda and if I were you I would stay clear of it and wait for something else to pop up that you like. That would not be a hard item to find again in my opinion, just my 2 cents. But buy what you like and what you feel comfortable paying, as you can't buy every piece hoping that you will make money or get what you had back out it. We all lose money on some items when it comes time to get rid of some pieces we have bought in the past.

Well put Coca Man and I already told them thanks but no thanks. Plus a coin op just popped up that i wanted more than the sign so I'm calling it a win. Thanks again for all of the advice.
