Heading to Muskegon, MI for the MHSAA Division 1 High School Bowling Singles Championship that will take place tomorrow. My son will be among the top 60 high school bowlers in the state competing for the #1 in the State Title. In the preliminary round they will bowl 6 games across 6 pairs of lanes. Then they take the top 16 based on actual pinfall--no handicap in high school bowling or beer either --and bracket 16 against 1, 15 against 2 and so on. The bracket round winners advance based on total pinfall over two games. The eventual winner will bowl 14 games in one day! I am hoping for the best for him but told him to just go out there and have some fun and hopefully the pins fall his way! Will report back tomorrow! The picture below is from the medal ceremony at the Regional Meet. Head Coach on the left and me (Asst. Coach) on the right. I hope to see that same smile tomorrow! Tim

I think Joey's high game was a 263 that he shot at Regionals two years ago! Both of my boys are better than me now.

Well, the kid placed 46th in the state. He averaged 181 over six games on a pretty tough oil pattern. Did not make the final round but he still did a great job and he finished strong even though he knew he was not going to advance. I am darn proud of him!

That's great! It sounds like fun...that's the main thing. I don't hear of any kids bowling. Congratulations to him!
Now, what's an oil pattern?

Good for him, it's tough to average 181 when the lanes are oiled to be difficult. He did all right.
