I got a call earlier this week from a guy about an hour away from me asking if I buy Coke Machines.. of course I asked what kind and found out he had a V81b.

he was considering restoring it but never got around to it and we talked terms and of course he was higher than what I was hoping..

he sent me some photos and it presented very well... so I did take a drive to see it today...(and of course came home with it).

I did pay more than what I usually pay for V81's but it's in line with today's pricing.

It's one of the nicer orignal 81b's I've seen.. and in my book doesn't warrant a repaint... just a good cleanup and Refurbishment of the rest of the machine, new insulation, wiring, gaskets and a good bath!

I did intend to buy this for inventory for restoration orders but I'm pretty tempted to keep this on in the collection with my other orignal machines..

Looks great. The back is amazingly clean, straight and rust free even for a survivor.   happydrinkers    Thanks for the pics.

Yeah I first thought repaint for sure when I first saw it but orignal hinge bolts unpainted, no overspray and orignal mylar chrome tape on back that tucks under Stainless molding.. insides are pretty nice too and no signs of under body rusting or beltline rust.

Great find.  I figured you would have already found all the 81s within an hours drive.  Do you ever get people asking for original machines or does everyone want a restored one?  I know the people on this board put a higher value on original condition, but I would guess the average Joe that calls you about a machine is more interested in the brand new paint job and powder coated shelves.
