Westinghouse select-o-matic

Today on the way home from church I spotted two coca cola machines sitting outside near what looked like a trash pile, went back this afternoon. They are 1) Westinghouse WB126-B6-D and a very similar Westinghouse select-a-matic (with the dial) sitting and collecting rain. They were solid but unrestored. Both are the 6' tall, 24" wide models vending 6 selections. I saw the cord was cut on one of them.

Anybody have input on their worth?

And, are there any good price guides?  I'll buy a book if I hear one that is a good resource. The owner's son said call back this week as his parents were out of town. He mentioned that he knew they are valuable, probably heard it from his dad. But what idiot would put them out in the weather?

Anyway, I'll certainly be looking into them.

Yea ...they become "valuble" only when someone asks if they want to get rid of them! otherwise they "rot" behind the shed
I have a local guy with a Vendo V39 sitting outside behind his garage, it's only got a decent chassis & door, no drum/guts, compressor,or coin mech. basically an empty shell, swears he won't sell it for less than $500.0, and there it sits!  '>

so make  them a resonable offer & see were it goes, does the machine have the same front panel layout as the
select-a-matic with small black rectangular push-buttons just under the drink/flavor windows?  or is it the model with the large rectangular button with the flavor label directly behind them?

plus you don't even know if they work at all, I'd say $100 for the pair & see if he "bites"  :'>

Thanks JohnieG for the advice.  The second unit is similar to the select-o-matic but does have the small black rectagular buttons, not the later model with the larger, clear selections. Either way, I have a feeling this person may be in love with his rusted machines. I'll let you know.

Yes, that's just like it.  In fact that one in the pictured above currently on a Ebay auction, as I would guess you are aware, and I'm watching it to see what it brings - not alot of activity so far though. I'm still trying to catch up the owner on these two I found to see what his plans are.

I also ordered my funtronics catalog today and spoke with Steve who gave me some good info on the westinghouse machines. he explained that when westinghouse went out of business it left many owners without parts, because much of their manufacturing/design was always done in-house.  So, although these two machines are complete as far as I saw they might also have parts value.  Steve also took the time to explain the background on their $29 value guide and it did sound like funtronics is probably the authority on determining estimated values of these soda machines. Maybe I can get a copy under the Christmas tree.

JohnieG............Yes I know what you mean I found a guy with a vendo 110 really rusty( even some holes) it is complete not running and he said he wants 1,000 for it........I passed. Sometimes I really wonder about people and there notion of worth, 1,000 I think not so just like your vendo 39 it just rots outside such a waste tho I have another person who is interested in selling me a machine and Im gonna try my new patented " Oh darn I thought it was the older style machine " racket......Disarm and buy.......Is it Immoral Nope is it sneeky yep......will it work........maybe we shall see
