Hey, I'm new on the site.
I go by icecruncher on most forums I've been on.
My background re: soda machines - Over 25 years ago I bought a cavalier 96 square top in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from an auction at a gas station. It had been there since new. Full of smoke, mold and grime. I cleaned up the window, replaced the glass, cleaned the lighted logo and just scrubbed it down good. It looked very nice until I sold it when I got married about 6 years later.
Since then I've moved and at times I REALLY miss the machine. I'd like to find something similar, maybe a round top in good to mint condition for our house. I've mentioned it to my wife and she likes the idea (amazing huh?) So, I thought this is a good place to start. Forums usually have the most knowledgeable and helpful people relating to the topic, anywhere I've seen. I'm hoping it will be the same on here.
I know these are getting harder to find, so also having people with a similar interest can help.

Welcome to the site. If you give us an idea where you are located you may get a heads-up from a member about a nice machine in your general area.
Since you owned a Cavalier 96 ST, you should now look for a Cavalier 96 RT.

If the wife likes the idea of one, you might start hinting towards two. They seem to grow on you once you get your first as many people here will attest. I wanted one for the house as well. Now I have 3. Welcome to the site and enjoy. There is a ton of info here and very helpful people willing to share. Start looking around, the hunt is the best part of the hobby.

Welcome to the site. If you give us an idea where you are located you may get a heads-up from a member about a nice machine in your general area.
Since you owned a Cavalier 96 ST, you should now look for a Cavalier 96 RT.
First machine was a CSS-96 lighted, nice square window coke display logo that lit up well at night. Too bad the older ones don't have the lights also. It ran well and the friend who bought it from me owns a HVAC company, so he had the whole refrigeration system replaced in it. I haven't settled on exactly which style I want to get now. I like the idea of having choices of beverages - (at least 2) which was nice about the cavaliers, although I'm a big coke person, my wife is more of a Dr. Pepper person. Plus I want a small footprint and not quite as heavy as the old one I had. It seemed like it weighed a ton! Any suggestions other than the 96 RT? The vendo 56 and 81's look pretty cool. I'm also more interested in buying a restored version this time. Any suggestions on what to check out, to see the quality of work people are doing on the restorations? I've seen some poor quality ones and I don't want to get suckered in by that. Im in Charlotte, NC

The vendo 56 and 81's look pretty cool.
You will soon find that 95% of the public feels that same way, that's why you are probably facing paying top dollar for one.

If you like the lighted sign and want a smaller footprint look at an older Vendo 63. (early 60's model). All depends on your budget.

Thanks for the suggestion, probably cheaper than the round top, but I'll stick with looking for an older one and forgo the lighting.
