I have a chrome top lowboy coin mech. Sometimes the dime will not drop into the cam that rotates on the shaft.

There is a brass chain that fell off in the bottom of the coin mech.  From pics I have seen-it looks like it hooks to a cam on the "flapper" shaft and the other end of the chain hooks to the case?

There is an instruction on shortening the chain-but I am not sure what it does?

Thanks,
Keith

It sets a pre-load tension onto the flapper, so when you pull up a bottle trough the gate, it doesn't get stuck halfway out & block the "vend", it  also helps prevent a free-vend situation. ( keeping the gate/flappers ratchet pre-loaded) it has nothing to do with the coin reject/acceptance.

Make sure the slug rejector is positioned and locked in the proper position directly above the dime slot in the cam.

Also, make sure there is no movement of the shaft in or out as the coin slot in the cam can get off slightly causing the coin to rest on top of it. If there is movement, then you need to shim it with a washer which entails removing the shaft.
