Just wanted to thank the many members of the board over the last 10 years that have helped me with my restoration projects.  Many of us collect and restore  things from the forties and fifties because we think in many ways, America was at it's best in that era.  The traditional family was strong and people looked out for one another with the aid or intrusion from the Federal Government.

My parants grew up in the 50s and had the benefit of "cooler cars, soda machines, jukeboxes etc"  Back then, things were designed with more chrome and "personality".   I have done my best to have my kids see the benefits of understanding the past.  I was very happy when my daughter asked the photographer to take pictures in the malt shop of  her and her wedding party.

I hope this hobby has brought many of you the same joy it has done for me and my family.

BC great shots!  I especially like the one of your daughter making a selection at the jukebox!  That looks like a picture from days gone by!  Kudos to the photographer as well.

Congrats to your daughter and her new husband!

Thanks Tim,

I think it would be  great to have some of our kids in pictures using some of our "old stuff'

Quick version - if I had a little more time I could make it a little more "genuine" sepia:

BC - if you like it, I'd be happy to apply that sepia process to a full-size digital copy.  Just email it to me directly (jholmgren AT gmail.com)  and I'll send it back.

Great way to make a thousandth post!  Congrats to you and your daughter, it's been great having you on the board.  I also included a lot of vintage items at my wedding and it was great to see everyone experience them and bring up the memories.

Here's to another great 10 years on the board!

Thanks a ton Jim.

The black and white picture looked so nice  that my wife ordered one from the professional photographer and will be having it mounted in my office at work.  Thanks for the great idea.

No problem BC - I'm an amateur shutterbug, and I love shooting black and white.  Simplifying the color palette to grey-scale can really give the image a whole new feel.   There is a real 'crispness' to B&W that you don't get with color.   Sepia tone is different, it introduces some browns into the mix.  Gives is a little 'warmer' feel than regular B&W.   Both are really cool and fun to do.
