Fan Blades Condensor

I have noticed there is a large variety of fan blades on some of the site sponsored sites.

I'm trying to figure out the differences??  I have noticed there are different diameters??

Can someone explain this to me?

I would like to replace the condenser fan blade on  a Vendo 56.  I have a few fan blades that were sent to me buy another board members.

I have a brand new 9 inch in diameter and turns CCW will this work as a replacement?  

My fan motor works great but I only have about 3 inches of good wire coming out of it.  Can I use a 14 gauge wire butt splice them together, heat shrink the wire and attach ring terminals on the end of the wires for the start relay??

Seems kinda of silly to buy a new fan motor if it's working properly??

      Your idea for the motor wires should work fine for now. Hook it up and make sure the fanblade is pulling air across itself. Also test for balance, a bent fanblade makes a much louder noise than necessary.

Also note, that the condensers electric motor is referred to as a "unit bearing" type and is rated for speed in RPM & power in Watts. the lower the Wattage, the smaller diameter fan blade it can spin at the given RPM rating of the motor, if you were to install say a larger 9" diameter fan onto a small 4 watt motor, it wouldn't have enough torque to get it up ( the fan blades) to the rated running speed & it would cause the motor to be in a constant stall, which will quickly overheat the motor. so bigger isn't necessarily "better" when it comes to fan size.

On the other hand, a smaller fan on large wattage motor will sound "over-run" & be much noisier than you may like & vibrate the motor mount which will resonate into the chassis, ( IE; it will sound much louder to the human ear), plus the smaller blades will tend to buffet the air & deter proper air flow.
