Try to shoot them with PB blaster and have the sit overnight.  You could just drill the screws out?    biggrin

But yes Tim is correct there is a very small screw that secures the flapper in place in can be removed with a small allen wrench.  Sounds like your screws are seized in the secure the coin mechanism cover.

      Remove 2 screws
LIFT coin box cover off coin tower.

Flapper was out as well. Two screws removed behind coin box and on tower cover. Tried to pull the chrome cover up, but it definitely feels like it's still connected to something.

A rubber mallet should work or place a piece of wood under it and hammer it upward. Someone may have tried to pry it off and bent it.

I took a tall boy off a 55 this weekend and there were 3 screws behind the cash drawer holding it on the side of the slider.

I can pull it up about 1/2" and that's it. Something connected to the hood or at least it feels that way. I'll be a little more forcefull and hope for the best.

It's only supposed to lift 1/2" to unlatch it, then it pulls off horizontally.
