What was I thinking???

I have a former student I use to help me with some shop work and moving equipment around. He's a hard luck case and I try to help him out with jobs when I can. He called me yesterday about a Coke machine he found at the scrap yard and to see if I wanted it. I told him I'd take a look at it and was suprised to see a Vendo 144 standing up in his truck. It's pretty rough but intact and cools well I haven't tried the vending mech yet. This thing is a beast and I probably paid too much at $300.00 but it was more helping the guy out than buying a machine. Are these worth restoring or am I better off parting it out?
Thanks, Ken

Looks like a longneck version of my 80....Is it rusted thru on the upper LH corner or is it just dirt....? Other than that is looks pretty good. I have seem them with an additional sign between the coin box and the white top. One kinda like yours down here in Georgia at an antique shop that looks worse and it's listed at $500.

Wow, that one near you is pretty rough. I wish I had the sign though. The spot on top is surface rust, the rest of it is pretty solid but I have 2 spots at the beltline that came thru.

Salvage the refrig unit and part out or scrap the rest.
