Hi all I just watched one of my fav. movies of all time (Back to the Future) and never saw the VMC 81 Pepsi before! It's in 3 scenes, where you see it all in 2 of them, and the a close up of just the top side, where you can't tell it's a 81 really.
So that put a smile on my face.......
Was wondering if you all know of other movies that show our machines?
Maybe we can keep it to the RT's only, as I'm sure all movies of the 70's have the square tops. (sorry ST guys)

This topic bounced around few years back. Think Makito started it. Well worth a revisit. Funniest movie sceen I recall is the Hanson Bros attacking a ST in "Slapshot". Creighton

I always spot various machines in the old Twilight Zone episodes. More cigarette, slot, gum, and jukes. Generics with no company logos. I remember one episode when a guy was walking through a deserted town and he walked right buy an old Rowe gum machine. I backed it up and showed my family, and they just thought I was a dork.

I just watched Oliver Stone's JFK and there is a Stoner candy machine in the background.
Also, if you pay close attention there are some machines in episodes of Mad Men.
Of course, at Bonovox already said....the VMC 81 at the Texaco Station in Back To the Future. My favorite movies scene of all time is when he goes into Hill Valley in 1955 and you see all that cool 50's stuff. I was a young kid at the time but one scene is what got me into antiques....mainly soda and gas memorabilia. Definitely my favorite movie of all time.
Good Post!!!

There is an V-81D (I think) near the Alamo scene in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Also a 1971 Warren Oates hot rod movie called "Two Lane Black Top" has a few machines in it. A Brooke Shields/Peter Fonda movie called "Wanda Nevada" has a V-44 visible early on in the movie in a gambling scene. Some Hitchcock movies from the 60's has some machines in it - like "The Birds" - gas station fire with the cafe... Twilight Zone & Three Stooges episodes both have lots of machines. There is a gas station scene with the Stooges and some visible pumps. Perry Mason episodes have some vintage machines It is fun to spot! My wife does point out the Mad Men stuff to me when it is on.

My favorite part, of the Back to the Future Pepsi machine clip, is when Marty McFly tries to untwist the cap and then his future father grabs the bottle and uses the bottle opener. That was a classic bit. That same thing happened to me at my sons eigth grade grad party. One girl asked me to help her with her drink, because it wouldn't twist off and I told her to use the opener on the machine. She didn't have a clue what that was. Then it dawned on me that openers were obsolete by the time she was born. The funny part was she took the bottle and dragged the cap down across the opener. I thought I was at a special needs party. I showed her how it worked and then she got it in just one try. Amazing.

There a old Coke machine in Swamp Thing. Adrienne Barbeau tries to get a Coke out of it and the kid working at the gas station tells her you have to hit the machine to make it vend. I was to distracted by Adrienne Barbeau to notice the model of the machine

Just watched the new movie lawless. Its set in the early 1930's. Sorry i am to new to know the make and stuff but there was an old cooler chest that was sitting in the store front they owned. The type you have to fill with ice. And a glass top fuel pump, they both looked brand new.
There was all kinds of old signs all over the store they owned. Of course I tried to show my wife and she told me to quit being a dork and just watch the movie. I thought it was cool though.

Larry,
Yes that scene is a classic. Funny story on your end too!!! Aside from bottle openers I really like seeing the younger generation try to use an old rotary phone

You beat me to it!! I just saw the movie and was wondering if there were really that many signs on every building back then. Seemed like every one had several signs, but there were unpainted backwoods hillbilly houses in the middle of nowhere.

I think I can say now, The Stoner Cookie Machine I just bought, belonged to Bruce Willis, we worked out the deal and the shipping company is on it's way. Don't know if it was in any movies but I'll ask.

Now how cool is that. Got to be on the lookout for a cookie machine now. I doubt it was in Die Hard though, If it was, there would be nothing left of it!!!!!!
