were the handles on these coolers originally painted red, or just bare metal? most ive seen show red handles...

My Airline cooler has chrome over steel & it's original, & yes there was an a Stainless steel version made of the model.

I have seen them both ways, but I suppose non-painted was how they came originally. The hardware tended to rust, so some owners may have painted it.
$490 is way too much for an airline cooler in need of restoration.
