Are you going to have the rear panel logos painted? I had to have a different pinstriper paint mine. My guy had a hard time landing the brush on the smaller embossed portion...

The machine actually does have all sides lettered at this point, the earlier photo showed the rear embossing was prior to the pin-strippers magic.

Just some updated pic's of this ongoing project...Thanks to Pat Pixley for giving me a hand setting the liner into the chassis, we used the old cardboard trick to keep the insulation in its place while we shoe-horned the liner back into place. Also shown is the patch panel I had fabricated to address some typical pin-hole rust that is common to this area just under the evap' housing [It's amazing what a pizza box & some Bondo will do! ] [Just kidding!] (see this post... http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,15715.0.html ) the old wooden support members were tossed out in favor of a two-piece Dow pink "250" foam lower insulation to insulate & support the tanks bottom including the original steel bottom liners), along with a thin layer of unfaced R-9 to take up any air-gaps. I used R19 unfaced pink stuff on the sides, held in place by some Scotch brand spay adhesive to hold it against the inner chassis walls while the liner was reinstalled, this went way too easy this time.

Looks good JohnnieG! I think the hardest thing about that machine was lining up the drain tube back down the bottom metal flooring. I used 1/2 inch wooden dowel ran it through the bottom and had a spotter down below! When you dropping the compressor in? Jared

Looks great that is a bear of a machine to tackle. I know firsthand it took me 18 months to do mine.
I have a few extra parts left over...let me know if you need anything.

Ever notice that any of us that ever restored one of these......... never restores another? I had done one last year, and really didn't think it was too bad... i had a new tub made and new support brackets for the underside.. the hand lettering cost a boat load to get redone and Funtronics sells new handles that where bad on the one I did. overall I'd take on one of these again over a Cav 51 or Jacobs 26/35 in a heart beat.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys...They're nice machines & good looking too, but they are also handy for other things like salads, etc. for party or holiday, (easy sell to the significant other, hint-hint ) but they do take up some floor space. it wasn't difficult to restore it, just took way longer to complete due to other circumstances popping up. the more annoying things about the resto' was the original evap' fan pooped out & it's an obsolete style that uses a non standard mounting position on the top of the motors frame, so I replicated an improved bracket to use a standard unit bearing style motor held horizontally. ( see the pictures) That & once I had the whole tank & it's guts reassembled , then I realized I had forgotten the drain tube & had to tear it all apart again...

Hate it when that kinda stuff happens. Bright side it is easier the second time. The third time it's a breeze :-). Creighton

Awesome job! I may have to borrow your idea for your fan bracket, my evaporator fan died. I am replacing it, and hammer toning the interior while it's apart. I hadn't worked out how I was going to mount the modern style fan yet. I love using this machine as a second refrigerator...and more importantly, so does the wife! I can't decide whether to paint mine or not. The original isn't too bad, but it got the 1956 updated red/white two-tone repaint and that is starting to flake off around the embossing. I like the white and red combo, but have always been a purist (solid red). Decisions...
