Hi Guys

Had to ask the experts about a particular soda machine that was "one that got away" this past weekend.

I went to an estate sale this weekend & ended up getting a Cavalier CS 72.   I found out about this from a Craigslist posting for a Coke machine by one of the auction people.  I could tell by the lousy picture that it was a 72, and it looked in rough condition.  I inquired about the price & they emailed back that it would be sold for $1800.  I politely declined, stating "That is too much for an unrestored machine; good luck with your estate sale."  The woman emailed me on Saturday morning and stated that they would take $600 cash.  I went to check it out and found that it was in much better condition than the pictures.  I ended up getting it for $525.

As I was paying for it, I asked if they often come across this kind of stuff.  The owners were there, and the wife stated that they had just sold an Orange Crush machine.  Se stated that she was surprised that she could only get $150 for it, as it was in much better condition than the Coke machine.  I was crushed, and didn't even bother asking her to describe it.

This has been bothering me for a few days now.  The only machines I have seen with Orange Crush logos have been Ideal 55 sliders.  For all I know it could have been a counter-top dispenser.

What type of soda machines were produced for Orange Crush?

Ideal 55 embossed Orange Crush Cooler
Quikold embossed Orange Crush Coolers
Kelvinator Type embossed Orange Crush Cooler (Pelco - Thanks John)
(this is the embossed lettering used to make the OC 81s)
There are a couple embossed picnic coolers and of course
ceramic/glass dispensers from the 30s
No embossed uprights that I know of...

Flippa...

I have boat loads of 55 sliders if you want another one.  I have an embossed Hires, an embossed Coca Cola "in bottles", and a few Glasco Fishtail GBV-50's.  I even have an Ideal 85 Canada Dry for sale.  Let me know.

There is an old Michigan Mafia custom that if you admire someone's machine, they are obligated to  gift the machine to the one admiring

Or is that in Korea...?

I can't give you a non working gift Ray. Let me  use those contact strip cleaners on it and see what i can do. I'd be disgraced and sihonored to gift a boat anchor if you have no boat.

When my buddies were racing stock cars,if one guy kept winning all the races and you thought that he had an unfair advantage another driver could just claim his engine. And he had to hand it over right then and there.I don't see why that theory shouldn't work with soda machines!
