81D bottom bottle shelf interference

I hope someone can help me.
I was putting the finishing touches on my Vendo 81D cabinet assembly.  I was trying to put the bottom shelf in place but when I try to place it back far enough for a 12 oz bottle-- I can't.  The refrigeration unit won't let me.  It interfers with the bottom shelf.
I have looked over the reassembly many times but everything seems to be in the appropriate location.
I know this is a trivial question but I am at a loss. I have searched this forum for the answer prior to posting this so I would not look any more foolish than I already do, but I was unable to find a solution.

      You did nothing wrong Kenny, every 81 produced is just like that!

I feel better. I find it hard to believe it would have such a design flaw.
