What do you think the value of these two machines are worth as they set and restored? The one on the left does not have the drum and hasn't ran in years, the one on the right is complete and did run but its been a few years since last plugged in. I was considering getting them both, restoring the one that is complete and converting the other one into a gun safe. Old machines likes this are scarce in my area. Thanks

Not much, especially the one missing the drum. A couple hundred for both at most maybe? Others will know a little better.

How come the 83 gets so much bad press and has little to no value? It's almost like it's a stepchild machine.

It's big, heavy, & butt-fugly, delivery door mechanism is a pain. it's pluses are it is embossed, and that the compressor assembly fit's a V110 & 6-case cooler nicely and it's chassis is the same as it's two more popular cousins ( V110&6-case) and it also makes a nice Madonna shrine when buried 3/4's of the way into your front lawn. hmm... let's just call it a "practice" Coke machine until the a V39 or a C51 comes along. Some people like 'em , some don't, I'm the later...I always call it the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. I'd probably like it better if it had a crank-handle & a nice external coin door.

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

I agree thus far. If you really wanted to convert them to a gun safe, well, that's fine. If the guy is asking 350 for both, Im almost sure there will be no takers... wait a bit, and offer him 100 bucks (and that's helping him out!) and see what he says. what area are you in that there are no machines near you?

what area are you in that there are no machines near you? At the bottom of Illinois. In the past 18months I have only came across 3 pre 1960's machines other than these two all are about a 3 hour drive from me and they would want at least twice what they are worth. That's how I came across this site, I was looking for some info on a few machines that I thought was over priced. Now after doing some reading on here I see what I thought was a decent price may still be on the high side.

What is the weight? Are they that much heavier than a 110 or 6 Case?

I can think of a ton of other machines I would restore. With the price of paint and chrome, pretty soon, the only machines that get grade 1s will be 81s Jacobs 56 etc.
