Just inherited a CVC 168 and would like to know how to change the price (slot says 40 cents, needs 45, I want to make it a quarter). Lots of wiring diagrams on the inside, but I really need a good operating manual, if one exists. Anyone know where I can get one?

You don't need an operating manual for the machine to change the price. Tell me what kind of coin mech you're using in the machine and I, or one of the other guys can help.

I could not find a specific name on the coin mechanism. There was a sticker indicating a need to be compatible with Coin Acceptors FPB 9800 and S75 9800. There was another label indicating "acceptor designed for use with VARI PRICE by VENDO".
Does this help? Or is there another place on the machine I should be looking?

Rob,
Without he actual model of your coin mech, it could be difficult to assist...
If you remove the slug rejector, the part that the coins actually slide through before dropping into a coin slot in the coin mech or dropping into a nickel tube, you will see some electro magnets and possibly four slide switches(black & white blades), a set of dip switches (1-4, or 1-6) and lasty you might see a wheel with teeth and numbers around the perimeter... What do you see when you get behind the slug rejector...?
Perhaps a digital photo can shed some light on this for everyone...

Here's a picture of the coin area after the "feed slot" has been removed. Didn't see any DIP switches, etc.

I think you have an S75-9800A unit. Do you have four switches alternating black and white located behind the slug rejector? (the component you removed) If so, here's the price change instructions:
COINCO coin changer price set instructions
Scroll down the FAQ list to the price set instructions and look at the S75 unit. It'll provide settings for both the S75-9800B and 9800A instructions. I'm fairly certain you have the "A".

It looks as though this coin mech is a fixed price model...
Based on what I can read, it looks like a National Rejector, but I don't know what specific model...
Is there any information/label on the side of the coin mech...?
I'm not much help on this one, but you may have to look for another variable priced coin mech if altering the price is that important...

Some mech's have switches inside. You may want to remove the rear cover and check for them there. Glen
