Hi

I'm new to this forum & this is my very first post.

I have a vendorlator v-56 squaretop that i just dismantled. I don't intend to replace the old insulation with the same pink fiberglass kind.

At the local lowes/home depot they have sheet insulation in 3 different types

#1 a foil backed foam, #2 regular foam #3 smaller foam panels of a different type, the kind that is used in the white coffee cups.

Types #1 & #2 come in various thicknesses. I measured that it was appx 2inches space the old insulation took up so I can get #1 or #2 in 2inch thicknesses but #3 I'd have to double up.

I'd appreciate any feedback or opinions on whats a better foam to use and if i used something like #3 should i leave an air space between those sheets ?

First off welcome to the board!!
Will the machine be outside or inside?
I would not leave any air space. If it is an indoor machine the the pink fiberglass is fine.
A search may turn up some old posts that might help.

Thank you for the welcome & the reply.

I did search "insulation" but i didn't find anything conclusive.

It will be an inside machine. I only thought to leave a small space because if i use the foam coffee cup type sheets I'll have to double them and i figured that if they are flush against each other that if moisture develops in the future then that might lead to mold

I personally don't think you will gain any R-value with boards. I used pink fiberglass insulation in my WB-60 machine and it keeps drinks "Ice Cold" cycling (maybe) once an hour!
Look in the Tips & Tutorials section for info

Yes welcome to the board  it is a good site and a lot of good people here smile.

As far as your insulation question ,  I would not use the pick board or even the white board
you wont have the proper  insulation value  and it may cause your compressor to run longer
and may cause damage to the shell if there is an air space causing moister.
