Quick Question on a 3in1.

Not really so much as a question, as much as a clarification. About the thermal relay on the side of the compressor. I thought the whole point of that relay was if the compressor overheats, it shuts itself off, but when using a 3n1 you bypass that thermal relay, but how does the relay inside the 3in1 know if the compressor is overheating, if its not on top of the compressor?

The thermal overload on the side of the compressor, is really more of an over-current device, it will over-heat it's bi-metal disk when too-much current it passed & it will then "click" and disconnect power to the compressor until it cools down ( and then re-connect the power)

the 3-in-1 uses the same principle to protect the compressor, that's why it's important not to over-size the unit in regards to the compressor you're using it on ( IE: a 1/2 HP unit on a 1/4HP compressor)
