Well, after a lot of searching and getting beat to the deal over the years, I finally found a good deal on a Stoner Theater (aside from the deal that I got on my older model Theater!). Tripped across this one last week and was surprised that it had not been snapped up. I requested some pictures, made arrangements to go see it this AM and I brought it home. It is pretty much an original survivor except for the blue spray bomb paint job--original color appears to have been green hammertone based on a look under the hood. It has the keys for both the base and the top and all of the chrome and knobs are in good shape. The mirror has been replaced--that'll save a few bucks--and the rest of the glass is original. All the pulls work and dispense but one vend column may need a little adjusting to prevent the bonus buy where several shelves drop at once. The light works and it has it has the original 5 cent--nickels only--coin mech. The cabinet has a few minor dings and dents but not too bad for a 1949 machine. Right now, after a little spring cleaning it will be good enough to use and someday it will get a proper restoration. Fresh Candy anyone? Tim

Can anyone describe how to fix the "bonus vend"? I have a couple of slots that vend more than one item and I have never messed around with my machine. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know how to fix it but I had a discussion with Curtis at Memory Lane one time and he said that it was an easy adjustment. Contact him and I am sure he will help you out. You can PM him at memorylane. Tim

It could be the springs for the shelf tripping mechanism are broken or missing causing these particular shelves to fall when the selection below vends...

I had this issue also but since my unit it's out of the machine at the moment and I can see what going on when more then one shelve drops. I can up with the following: Note assuming all springs and shelve mechs look in good shape. When you reset the shelves in a column they all need to be dropped, if you try to reset just some it will cause the latching mech not to set correctly, each shelve is dependent on the shelve above it to set correctly . I can get multiply shelves to drop in any column if I set them wrong, also if you are not filling the column completely, keep filling it going up until all the shelves are dropped or use the free vendor switch to drop the remaining shelves and then reset the whole column. Not saying there aren't other issues that maybe causing problems, if you shelves drop randomly this may be the fix to try. Ray

Also the one trick I found is once you stock a column and everything is set, go back and start from the bottom and push up on each shelf. You must do this to help the springs in the back reset properly. Without doing this you will get multiple drops. This trick has fixed my multi drops 99% of the time. I just run my finger up the side two three times on each column and I haven't had an issue since. Try that and hope it helps, if it doesn't you have a larger problem in the back and may need to adjust the tubs, but that's not normally the case.

Good tips Frank and Ray. I have noticed that the second run up the column with the finger helps to avoid this problem. Good to hear from you Frank! Have you restored any more stoners? The last one you posted pictures of turned out great! Tim

Just picked up an old juke box. Now I'm looking for a stoner to call my own. With any luck maybe I can find one as nice as this one.
Congrats!
