The 1/4 motor that sits on the bottom, is the motor a seal unit. I am trying to re wire it. there is a small Phillip screw I took out,
but have no idea what it does. I try a cloth with chandler locks but will not budge. Any suggestions? Thanks Mike

Got a picture? Most all of the 81 compressors were sealed units I think.

There is a cover screw and I think two screws underneath the cover that hold the relay and overload protector. Not sure exactly what you are referring to.

I just wondering if the back will come off the motor so I can rewire it. It worked good before restoration,  or do you think I should just replace while
I have it torn down? Thanks Mike

I'd just replace it - no worries for years to come!
