If Rick gets 30k for his remake hot dog stand looks like the demand of the Victor C-31 is going up. 30k for a remake, seriously? Or is this a joke on us?

If it was the cooler I sold him he paid $500 for it if I remember correctly. I guess shipping could have made up for the other $500. Its too bad he cut up that cooler. It was a fantastic condition rust free cooler. It had spent its life in a rural high school in southern western ohio. When I got it they had just stopped using it the year before. They used it in the concession stand at the football field since new.

I know you gotta make a profit but come on, 7k and asking 30k, I have a fear of his show really affecting our market. Sure the cost of machines could go up which can be a really good thing for some people. But those who just enjoy it as a hobby not looking to make a buck, could really get hurt by this. Granted he did put some engineering into it so thats worth making some money but not gouging people with a 23k profit. When he said it's a semi-authentic hot dog stand I lost my cool. It's no where near semi-authentic, it's a remake not anything close to authentic. I don't got a problem with guys cutting up machines to make some cool stuff, but you gotta be honest with the buyer about it. Just my 2 cents

Personally, I know nothing about the Victor Kooler and think its an ugly beast. My issue would be that it isn't the "Real McCoy" and not neccesarily the profit he is making on the deal.
If some fool wants to part with that sort of money without doing their homework then that's their problem. However, its deceitful and completely dishonest to state that it is sometihng it isn't.

Dave, I agree. Now, all we are going to hear from some one selling a machine is, "I saw them going for $7000 on that TV show."

It's happening already. I can't count the number of times I've seen a Craigslist or Ebay listings referencing the several thousand dollar numbers tossed around by American Pickers, Pawn Stars, or any of those other trash is treasure not my reality shows

What is the ballpark value of a real Victor grill? Guessing they are fairly rare... There has to be a reason that he has $30k on it. Gambling debts, an opiate habit, or it was a pain to build and if you only charge $25k you will be over run with orders. Plus whoever is going to buy that thing may take pride in the money they spend on things. So a higher price makes it more desireable... The addage that if no one is buying, than your not charging enough. I would like to know though what a real one would sell for. For example a for real Shelby Cobra can sell for well over $150k, and you can get a nice replica for $30k. So I don't know how that real vs. replica price comparison relates to this but its worth considering. Likely to see more custom one of a kind super rare Coca Cola couches and bbq smokers combos in the near future.

Jeff Wolf's sold his restored Victor Kooler Grill for over $50k - I don't know the exact number as that is all he said in his post. He had a great collection, which can be seen in this thread (VKG pics near the end of the thread): http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,5244.0.html

I define value as what someone is willing to pay for it. That said, it's unclear to me if he is misleading in the ad, it is a Victor Cooler, and it is a grill.
Don't start flaming me, I don't believe in fraud or misleading customers.

50K was correct for the Victor Kooler Grill, Steve Ebner and I found it in the early 90's,I picked it up in my trailer and restored it and re-sold it to another one of my customers a couple of years later. He has been offered more than what he paid for it but will not sell it. Rick is doing a Stoner Coffee Machine for an up coming show, I sent him all the decals/Instructions/Glass graphics for the inside and back of the machine, along with 200 pictures of how to put it back togather as he kept calling for advice on how to re-assemble it. All in all I didn't think the show was all that bad, if it gets people wanting this stuff, bring it! Just say'n....

The line that caught my ear was (RICK DALE You need to get back in your car and go back home ) nice I never would have said that. And one thing maybe it's me was Ricks Victor Grill backward (or the wrong side) It may be good for those of us that do restoration work .

I looked on my guide to see when the show is on and I noticed the info for the episode said that Rick converts a cooler into a grilI. So as long as whoever knows that when they buy it they won't be dissapointed when they hit hard times and take to the Pawn Stars bunch and they tell him its not an original and offer $1000. Collecture good looking out on the link to the wolf collection. $50k + for the real deal and no one probably uses an original to roast up there hot dogs. Maybe $30k isn't bad if a buisness bought it and operated it. Maybe a casino in Vegas needs a classier brand of hot dog stand. So Curtis did Rick call to let you know if he got it all put back together?
