I am fairly new to the hobby, and was wondering if there were any publications/books out there that may help me
gain some knowledge on the various machines that exist?  There is a lot of info on the forum, but it would take years
to sort it all out.

Just curious if there is anything out there i should check out! Thanks

I haven't seen many, but I check out Classic Soda Machines  by Jeff Walters . I thought it was a good book on the subject, it a reference and price guide  ... try to get the paperback , it's  cheaper

Yes, Classic Soda Machines  by Jeff Walters is a must have for info about soda machines, doesn't have every machine but it would take   thousands of pages to show every model produced.

another  cool way to learn  is to pickup some sale material on eBay relatively cheap, it's like a snap shot in time from that coke machine manufacturer   http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370499968235#ht_1225wt_1139
