All,

I fired up the Vendo 110 today and let it run for a while.  The good news is it got SUPER cold, no evap freeze-up, good airflow, etc.  The bad news is it didn't shut down.  My guess is the t-stat is shot.  It will kick the unit on, but it never turns it off.  I tried the trick of putting the probe in a glass of ice water to see approximately where the 32-degree mark was.  I never heard a click.

This is a contact style stat, and I was very careful to place it exactly where it was prior to the restoration.

So, I am thinking I need a new stat?  Thoughts?

Question first,
with the machine unplugged and the Tstat set to zero or off.. plug it in.. if the compressor kicks on, yes the T stat is shot or possibly not hooked up right.

if the compressor doesn't kick on till the tstat is turned to 1 or 2, you might just have to reset the in an out points on the tstat.

there should be some small screws on the back of the tstat saying in and out.  adsjust so it kicks on and off.

if this doesn't work, yes, just replace the tstat..

Good luck

John,

Turning the stat to off will shut down the compressor.  Likewise, turning it from off will kick it on immediately.  I don't have to turn it to 1 or 2, so I figured the cut in and cut out stuff was okay.

This stat is original to the machine, and there wasn't a way I could bench test it when I had the deck out for restoration.

On the "12 Days of Christmas" thread, I said I wanted 7 US-made thermostats, because the Mexican ones  censored me off.  Well, looks like I should prepare to get  censored ed!!

Anyway, thanks for the confirmation, and thanks to you, too, Canuck!
