...you've been looking for a particular machine, find it within your accepted traveling distance and then e-mail or call the number listed, just to find that they never return your calls or email you back. Very frustrating to say the least. I've been looking for a Pepsi 81 for over a year now. Found one but no answer after 3 days. Either it's sold or they don't want to sell it. Oh well, my search continues.

Well, I just received a call from the owners son! He said it's still available!   They were asking $3000 for it in the ad but had an offer for $2000. The owner, an elderly woman who needs money for Christmas, is considering the offer but the guy has not come by yet to look at it. She has owned this machine for over 25 years and is in her basement. Doesn't know if it works because the cord is damaged but said it did run when last plugged in. This machine is only 2 hours from me and I said I could come and look at it tomorrow. Just realized tomorrow is Sunday and banks are closed.  
Will keep you posted as to what happens but I think its a pretty good deal at that price. Here are a few pictures. Tell me what you think!

It looks to be a nice original I would show up with $2,500 start at 2 and work your way up.

         Don't rely on banks......I would go get cash today and keep it under the mattress for when a deal like this comes up.
        The guy made an offer without seeing it in person? Tell her he must be a dealer and will most likely offer her $1500 or less when he gets there.
        That looks to be a nice original and another one won't come up for less than $2500. I like it much better than one that has been painted....you never know what is underneath

Well, just got in from my trip to pick up the Pepsi 81 and its in amazing original condition. I couldn't find 1 dent on this machine's cabinet. It is missing 1 bottle shelf, slug rejector and key/lock. Just a good wet-sanding and buffing should bring the paint around. $2000 was what we agreed on so I was able to take some cash back home with me. heavy snow and 40 mph wind didn't help the trip any but at least i got it home in one piece. Will post some pictures after it's cleaned up.

John, I'm also back on the sidelines.. and out of money. Shhhhh, don't tell my wife! I've spent too much money this year on machines and even though I'd love to find a 7UP 81 right now to make my collection complete, I don't know how I would pay for it at this point. With Christmas just around the corner, Not much left for gifts for the family... unless they want a cold 8 oz coca-cola! I will still be looking for a 7up 81 but won't be able to pull the trigger. Besides, I have 3 new additions I need to tinker with! 2011 should be a good year as well! Can't wait to get back to Chicago-land for the spring show!
