I installed a "3-1" starter (1/4-1/3 hp) on my Cavalier Css-96 compressor.  The compressor started right up but only ran for about 30 seconds before I heard something in the starter click off.   It clicks on again after a short while and runs for about 15 seconds and shuts off again.  Is there something wrong with the starter or is there something I did wrong?  If anyone can help, please let me know.  Thanks

Your compressor may be on it's way out, mine did that when I put one on and I had to replace it.

I split this topic so as to make it a little easier to follow, ( the prior topics where from back in 2006) so...

Your Compressor is drawing too much current even for the 3-in-1 booster/starter, time to think about replacing it.

Best place to get replacement compressor? Another machine or new?
