It is always something! I just finished getting the vend mech to my WB60 put back together - still got to lube it up though. However, I sent out all 6 of the SO flapper springs to be plated and every single one came back broken. So I am going to get one off my other machine and have some made. Anybody want/need a set - LMK if you have an interest. No idea of cost yet, but the more I have made, the less it will be per spring. I'll order at least 24 probably.

Springs that are electro-plated will brittle from hydrogen infiltration must be heat-treated to remove the "brittling" to avoid this you should remove the springs from the unit ( so they aren't under tension) the same thing used to happen back in the "60's when people tried to chrome plate the coil-springs on hot-rods, they "snapped" under stress due to hydrogen embrittlement. lesson learned... http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/Forms-HIC/embrittlement.htm

Thanks Glen! ....to avoid this you should remove the springs from the unit ( so they aren't under tension)... I broke the hole unit down completely and everything was sent to be re-plated. I have had a lot of springs zinc plated before and they do become brittle, but most times they are still usuable. The really rusty ones however don't make it through usually. These were not that rusty and I thought they would be fine, but every single one busted at the bend on the long arm.

Collecture, Wow that looks nice. Saw the pics of the completed machine as well. I just got 2 littl Westinghouse WB-60's and will try to bring them back to life soon. Maybe I can ask you some questions from time to time??

Thanks! I love these little machines! That's about what I have paid for mine too. Sure - fire away! It has been a while, but I'll try to answer.

Ok i have a question for you. I pulled out my vend mech (WB102), that looks just like this one, cause I need to fix a few things. Two of my delivery gate links are bent so I need to replace those. Does someone sell these or Im I just as well off finding the right guage wire and bending them to shape myself? While I have this out Id really like to clean it up too. Is there an easy way to do that without tearing it down or should I just get a rag and some cleaner and do it by hand the best I can. Mostly Im just wanting to get all the years of dirt and grime off of it. Other than that it still looks great.....almost no rust on it.

I have some extra gates from a pushbutton WB-78 - same links too I think. I'll check and let you know. I just used an automotive engine degreaser - remove all electrical components, spray on, wash off, dry and relubricate.
