Question for everyone:
When the main door gasket is fitted over the liner and screwed onto the main door. Has anyone ever used a thin layer silicone grease (as used in pool pump O-Rings) to further seal the area of the gasket occupied by the edge of the liner. Seems to me like it might be beneficial!

Good idea, bad idea or totally unnecessary? Thoughts?

   Never done this, not sure I would do this with a fresh paint job.
But if you do this please send pictures and let us know .

The pics wouldn't show anything as the silicone grease would be under the rubber.
Do you think the grease would harm the paint and why? I have no plans to do anything yet as it is just an idea.

Tom,
Can't see that +/-1mm of grease would provide any gain. There is a silicon sealer for seams on RV's. It cures flexible as to not crack under vibration. That might be an option. No idea what if any reaction it would have with paint. If you can't find a link holler.

I would think the pressure of the door pushing on the gasket would be enough to provide a tight seal, plus I , like most, put another strip of weather stripping on the Breaker strips, just to the inside of where the gasket meets, to basically provide and extra seal so to speak..
