I have these drive in speakers hooked up to my surround sound , it sounds really good. The pay phone also adds to the 50s-60s theme.

Very Cool  Cool..... I have  two drive-in speakers.... looking for a junction box. scalebowler (Alex) also likes drive in speakers etc..  He has a few leads that his checking out for me  to see if he can get me one. I plan to user my for  surround sound as well. I got a 720P ceiling mounted BenQ projector , 120" screen, infinity 5.1 surround sound (factory direct from eBay)  and a Pioneer 5.1 tuner   (Circuit City close out). It was all done on the cheap all for around $700, but with good quality stuff  and results.  The kids love it to play Xbox 360.

Nice looking set of speakers. Those a pair of RCA speakers? Yep I really like the drive-in speakers and other drive-in stuff. Stopped at a 4 screen drive-in and bought two speakers from them and then got the junction box from another drive-in. They were nice enough to send me the junction box as long as I mailed them a box and money for the box and shipping. Mine were origionally not working so I had to order parts from the manufacturer and got new speakers in them as well as new cords. The junction box is all there too. Just needs a 24 volt bulb that will replace the 125 volt bulb that was origionally used for the down light. I will post some pics when I get the stand and everything wired up and put together.

Thanks Pat,  your speakers came out cool, I think I might try to polish mine the same. I found this J box  on Ebay that I like,  it's current at $22.50... what's a good price to get it for ...I don't want to over bid too much  biggrin

Those Simplex junction boxes are pretty neat. I saw lots of those at the I-70 drive-in when I bought the speakers from them. I still think your best bet for a cheap box would be to call a open drive-in and ask them if they have any speaker junction boxes that they might want to sell and if they are too far away to drive offer to send them a flat rate box with the postage paid and see what they say. That is what I did for mine. The guy charged me 10 bucks for the box and it was 10 something for the box and I got it in a week or so. Just make sure you are very friendly and make sure to call them back to tell them you got the box and to say thanks. I hope to one day get the speakers and box on a pole and bring it to the two places the parts came from to show them. I think they would like that.

Scalebowler,

Think you could acquire another junction box for the pole top...?
I just bought a pair...
