judging by the door medallion, I'd guess it to be a B, that before it was repainted all red, they filled in the holes where the trim mounted.. I doublt someone would go through the trouble of replacing the "C"s green medallion with a white one? just my 2 cents

The A Model Medallion (Which I have is Green ) And Then the B Model Were ( White) And The C Models Were Were (Green Also ) . Other Then Taking the Door Liner Or Tank out to See if There are Holes Is there Another Way To Tell Huh? I mean I 'v Learned A  Lot From You Guys  But Since It Was Restored App 15 years Ago ( Way Before I started Collecting ) Could Some One have Swapped out the Medallion Huh?

It's possible the medallion was swappe out, more than llikely the original one was cracked, faded, missing or all.
Regardless, I like it, congrats

        Nice find!

A way to tell if the holes are bondo and not welded, is hold a small magnet in places where the holes would have been. You would feel less pull.

I would not repaint the top in white at this time. And just for fun.............................. change the medallion to green and stamp a new id tag as Vendo 81C. biggrin

When I want to see if a rivet is aluminum or steel, I use my magnetic screwdriver with a small tip. Might be hard to find the exact spot though.

It shouldn't be hard to remove a side breaker strip and take a peek at the side with a small maglite while using a ruler or something to pull the insulation away from the inside wall

Agree with Tom I do, (say that in a yoda voice)  biggrin

if you are curiuos , don't mess with the door liner as it will crack, but you can access one side of the cabinet via the breaker strip and look in there like Tom Said..

I would put my money on it being a B that had dented trim, so they took it off, filled in the holes and painted it all red for some reason, probably just because they liked that look and didn't care about authenticity, they just wanted a nice looking machine which it is..

did you get good deal on it?
