Bead blasting or Sand Blasting

Not sure, what is the best way to go. Seems to me looking on this site either way, not sure of the pros & cons. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Mike

I do both. I have a 50" wide cabinet and anything that will fit inside gets bead blasted. Everything else goes outside and get sandblasted.

A reputable blaster can help you decide based on the condition of the machine. Many times they need to do both to get the job done right.

I always have them start with a bead blast first to remove the paint, sealant and decals so you can see what you have to work with.  Then, if any rust areas are found, I have them sandblast that area only.

In then end, if you get it down to solid, clean metal and you don't warp anything, it doesn't matter how you did it.

If you don't know a good blaster in your area, I would recommend looking at powder coating shops. Busy ones usually have a few guys that do it full time and can do it right.

Just remember sheet metal can be warped very easily by someone not knowing proper techniques in sand blasting these type of items!
