OK this looks like it should be really, really simple but I didn’t want to force the issue until I asked.

Last night I was trying to fit my new Funtronics 81 medallion into the bottle door but it doesn’t just drop in like I thought it would.  Yes I see the little metal tab on the hole and the notch in the medallion where it should go but it just doesn’t want to fit.

Is there some trick to this or does this part normally fit so tight it takes some (or a lot of) pressure to get the medallion in?  Should the tab be bent at all?  Mine is currently flat or straight with the plane of the door.

Should I just go ahead and modify either the tab or the medallion to make it fit?
I have a few really big hammers, a plasma cutter and a welder if needed so I know I’ll eventually make it fit!  tounge  jawdrop

Thanks

The only purpose of the metal tab was so at the factory they got the medalian centered and not tilted. You need to take a drimell and grind the tab off and go around the inside edge of the door a little. The new medalian was made just a pinch bigger, so a little grinding or filing is necessary. I just installed one last nice and with a little grinding they fit and look great. If you need any other help feel free to call me.

Thanks Rod!  Do you glue it in at that point or does the gasket (which I just ordered this morning) hold the medallion in?
