Here is a pic of my Cavalier 96C in my retro garage.  I also built the bar unit and the mini booths.  Looking for retro lighting at the present time.

Very nice! I think I responded to one of your posts on ColaMachines.com - have you been a member there for some time?

I like the set-up too. Just curious how you get behind the bar to serve your friends?

Very cool. Cool  I was wondering what happened to James Dean.  He ended up in your garage.  Did you get his spyder too?  Welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site. Great setup. Would that be a Vette poking its nose into the picture?

The bar is on casters so it rolls out.

No, I did not get his spyder.  However, James has Marylin hidden behind the bar!

Well, like all projects of this magnitude, it was a little at a time.  I started with the floor, then the bar and stools, then the wall unit.  After that I bought the juke box, restored the 10 cent coke machine,  and built the mini booth.  Now, I am going to look for some retro lights for the ceiling.  Here are some pics of the actual construction. (in my messy shop) Most of the build was done with scrap material I had sitting round the shop.

Outstanding!  I was going to ask if you had plans for that bar and back-bar.  I showed your set-up to my wife and she said. "COOL!"  That is a ringing endorsement from someone who does not alwasy appreciate my hobby!

There are no plans, except for what I have in my head.  Generally speaking, plans get in my road when I get started on a project.  I used mostly scrap material I already had in the shop.  Therefore, I had to be very creative  in a couple of instances to make the curves on the wall unit and the base for the bar.  I love the challenge of trying to make this stuff myself.  That is why some people call me "cheap bob"!   biggrin

I'm doing basically the same theme in my garage. Looks fantastic!!!!  May I ask where you got your metal trim around your bars and the metal edge on your bar top?  Thanks Rick

One more question:  What color laminate did you use on the countertop?

I restored a Victor many years ago and had to buy a 200' roll of plastic trim to face off the countertop. I have a lot left if anyone is interested.

The chrome trim is nothing more than auto body trim you can purchase at any auto parts store.  It comes in a variety of sizes from about 1 inch (I used on the wall unit) to 1/2 inch (used on the bar) to 1/4 inch used on the table edging.  Very easy to apply and stays once you get it in place.  Make sure you have it where you want it because it is a real treat to remove it if you make a mistake.  Believe me, I know!  Also, if you use the chrome body trim, make sure you strip the tape from the back a little as at a time as you apply it.  I usually did about 6 inches at a time.  You can actually buy the edging but is damned expensive and you have to cut a slot in your table or bar edge.  It is a real pain in the neck.  If you want to PM me your phone number, I will be glad to share the details of my build.
