Beware - my laptop picked up a virus that really messed up it's browsing ability on Internet Explorer and on Google Chrome that I was running.  I know it was from one of the links I clicked on from this message board...so be careful on what you are clicking on.  I for one will not be clicking on anything in here with a link.  If the picture isn't posted in the actual posting I am not going to click on a link to see it.

Pepsi-Perk,
Can you possibly point me to the culprit link(s)...?
I'll investigate asap even though this would be the first time anything like this has happened!
I pride this Site for its members keeping a clean house, if you will, and safe from the general hostilities of the Internet ! ! !

So it begs the question, what "link" did you click on, I run McAfee virus scan with host intrusion firewall protection which would alert my system to any link related threats & I've ran all over this site & probably clicked on every link around & never ever even got a "tingle". without identifying which link is at fault, or any other reported virus attacks, your infection could have come from anywhere. I see it all the time at my real job @ ATT DSL customer support.

Hi all - well, just now being able to get back on this thing and move around some...not sure if I am back up to full speed yet, but it is better than it was.

Not sure what links I was looking at, I'm not about to go clicking around to find out.   I got all kinds of warnings popping up on my screen, and immediately locked down the system and ran malware programs and spybot and even a C drive cleaner.  I too run McAfee - along with Spybot and scan all the time to make sure nothing is hanging out there.

Maybe it popped up from something else earlier on...who knows.  Just thought I would throw out a warning to beware...just cause you have the latest and greatest anti-virus doesn't mean you won't get hit apparently.

It's nice to be back on to see what you all have been finding and chatting about.

OK - Got it figured out.  It wasn't a link from this forum that made my system goofy.

I was surfing the forums and clicking on all the links when my virus software detected a key logger virus was infecting my system.

Turns out that Windows updated my software to Service Pack 3 on XP and just got done updating and started to run at the same time I was on this forum.

Reading about this issue on other forums Service Pack 3 causes anti-virus software to spew out key logger virus alerts.

So now I spent a long time uninstalling all the crap Bill Gates stuck on this laptop with an automatic update...back to Service Pack 2 and turned off automatic updates - updates are to notify before installing now.  Had to strip off all my internet software and reinstall all that and reconfigure the router connection.

A real pain...but it's nice to be back on line on my own machine!
