Hey all,

I can only afford to paint the front door of my USS-8-64K model built in 1975.

Does anyone know the EXACT paint codes in Dupont for this machine.   I know that there are many different colors of Coke Red.

The big deal is to try to get as close as possible to the original red on the sides of the machine.   I will only be removing the door and taking it to a painter to paint so he won't have the opportunity to see and match the color to the sides.  It was an indoor machine so fading would have been minimized.

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out on this.   Josh?   Others???

I've attached a photo as reference.  It may be a poor photo but you 'll get the picture.  No pun intended.

Thanks,
Mark aka USS64K

You're not going to spare the woodgrain!!!  That machine looks beautiful the way it is!  I have attached a picture of mine.

I have not painted a machine yet but I know there are a lot of different reds that have been used over the years.

Because of the white separation the color of red you choose will not be noticable even if it is off a little.

My heat gun took care of the woodgrain in short order!!!   See ya, gone!!    Needed some bodywork anyhow for some dents and dings so it had to go anyway.

Now, just to find the right Red paint primarily but knowing the white also would be nice.   hopefull

Moondawg.  Excellent observation.  Hadn't considered that.  Good point.   Puts my mind a bit more at ease.

Hey Bubba,

Do you think that all the paint on our coke machine is original or parts or whole painted at some later point in time?

I'm sure its original. I have a Vendo 63 that is the same paint scheme as your Cav..  My Cav is from the early 80's.. Yours is a 70's machine. I've got another Cav with a black front that is an 80's machine as well.
