Here's the newest member of my "family"...it's a nice Dr Pepper Ideal 35 with porcelain sign. It came out of a family market in a small town near here. The guy I got it from pulled it from the building before it was torn down, and he remembers getting sodas at the market when he was a kid for 5 cents. I asked if it was from this machine, and he said the machine was there, but it was 10 cents, so he went to the other one. This guy was in his 50s or 60s. Just missing cap catcher, coin box cover and rejector, and that's it (and it had these up until a couple months ago when they were stolen off of it while sitting on his porch!). Side door looks like it was pried open a few times. The machine cools well and vends. Coin box plate is dated Oct 1954. It could use a new paint job, as the old is flaking off a bit on front, but not really any rust. A good buy I think for $150!

Thanks, guys! Yes, restoration is the plan...already looking at our sponsors for all the goodies to make it right again!
I'll keep an eye out for you, Dave! I'm still trying to get stationed out there...or at least find someone moving there that I can slip a machine or two into their household shipment!

Nice purchase, these are great since they take up such a small footprint.

It isn't just the machines that interest me, it is the stories that accompany them that makes these machines such an interesting conversation piece.
I have machines that I purchased for $25.00 to $75.00 dollars from the establishments they were used in and the knowledge of knowing the people who used the machine daily and the lifestyles and stories they related of a time long gone that makes these machines so important to me. No reproduction could have the same effect.
Great find. Great story.
